(Kay Slater): This report was funded by the Canada Council for the Arts through the SEED grant. A survey was completed by disabled and Deaf artists in southern BC. I am grateful for grunt gallery’s support and to every community member who gave their time and trusted me with their perspectives. I acknowledge my biases as a white, ambulatory, hard of hearing Canadian over 40 who is employed and not receiving disability support. I have tried to be clear when sharing my perspectives versus the data I collected, but I encourage readers to question me, talk to others, and keep collecting information.
Report and 2025 Survey Respondents
All participants in the research were provided the opportunity to remain anonymous in the final report, be identified by their disability identity or have their names credited. Those who agreed to be identified by their disability identity have been labelled as such within the report when quoted.
Thanks to all participants – anonymous + , Johnny Tai, D’Arcy Briggs, Keimi Nakashima Ochoa/KNO, bailey macabre, V West, Lance Lim, and Siobhan Barker (she/they) – Equity, Diversity and Disability Justice Consultant.
